About the Genesis GV70 Electrified
The Genesis Electrified GV70 is the electric version of Genesis's popular mid-size luxury SUV, built on Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP platform with 800V architecture. Dual motors producing 429 bhp and 516 lb-ft of torque make it one of the quickest luxury SUVs in its segment, with a 0-62 mph time of just 4.2 seconds.
The 77.4 kWh battery provides a WLTP range of up to 283 miles, though real-world range is closer to 180-240 miles depending on driving style. Where the GV70 truly excels is charging speed — the 800V system peaks at 240 kW, enabling a 10-to-80% top-up in just 18 minutes, among the fastest in any production EV.
The cabin is beautifully appointed with quality materials, a rotary gear selector, and Genesis's clean design language. The ride is composed and comfortable, though it lacks the playfulness of sportier rivals. Like the Electrified G80, it supports V2L for powering external devices.
The updated 2026 model brought a larger 84 kWh battery with improved range. Genesis's limited dealer network remains a challenge, but for those willing to explore beyond the German premium brands, the Electrified GV70 offers exceptional performance and charging capability at a competitive price.
What the press thinks
The Electrified GV70 wins praise for its blistering charging speed and strong performance. The luxurious cabin and competitive pricing against German rivals are frequently highlighted. Criticisms include the slightly limited range compared to newer competitors and the brand's small dealer footprint.
