About the Jeep Avenger
The Jeep Avenger is the first fully electric Jeep, designed specifically for European markets on Stellantis's eCMP2 platform. It is a small SUV that prioritises urban-friendly dimensions and efficiency over the rugged off-road capability traditionally associated with the Jeep brand.
The 50.8 kWh battery paired with a single front motor producing 156 bhp delivers up to 249 miles of WLTP range — impressive for a car of this size and weight. At just 1,595 kg, the Avenger is one of the lightest electric SUVs on the market, which helps with both efficiency and handling. DC charging at 100 kW enables a 20-to-80% charge in around 24 minutes.
The Avenger won the 2023 European Car of the Year award, which gave it immediate credibility in a market where Jeep has limited EV heritage. The interior is compact but well designed, with a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a reasonable amount of standard equipment. The ride is comfortable for a small SUV, though the 156 bhp motor means performance is leisurely rather than brisk.
The Avenger works well as an urban and suburban runabout with enough range for occasional longer trips. It competes directly with the Peugeot e-2008 and Vauxhall Mokka Electric, which share the same Stellantis platform. Jeep styling and the brand's adventurous image give it a distinct personality in the segment.
What the press thinks
The Avenger earned its Car of the Year award through a combination of efficiency, practicality, and value for money. Reviewers like the lightweight design, decent range, and Jeep styling. Criticisms focus on the modest performance, limited rear space, and the fact that it feels more city car than rugged Jeep.
