How to find these values on your BMW

Wh/mi or Wh/km

Swipe left on the curved display to the "Efficiency" widget — tap it for a bar chart showing kWh/100 km split by Climate, Drivetrain and Auxiliaries. Or go to "My Car" → "Trip Info" for average consumption per trip. On the i3, use the iDrive controller: "Vehicle Info" → "Trip Computer" → "Consumption".

Estimated Range

Always shown in the instrument cluster next to the battery gauge. On iDrive 8+ models you can also tap the battery icon on the home screen for a range map adjusted to terrain and driving style.

Battery Percentage

Visible in the instrument cluster beside the battery gauge. Tap the battery icon on the home screen for exact percentage and charging status. If you see range instead of %, go to "My Car" → "Settings" → "Units" and switch to percentage.

About the BMW iX1

The BMW iX1 takes the popular X1 SUV formula and electrifies it with a 65.2 kWh battery and up to 272 miles of WLTP range. Available in eDrive20 (single motor, rear-wheel drive) and xDrive30 (dual motor, all-wheel drive) configurations, it slots neatly into the compact premium EV SUV segment alongside the Volvo EX40 and Mercedes EQA.

BMW's active liquid cooling keeps battery temperatures well managed, and DC charging at up to 130 kW enables a 10-80% top-up in around 28 minutes. While not as rapid as the fastest chargers on the market, it's adequate for regular road trips. AC charging at 11 kW means an overnight charge on a 7 kW home wallbox takes roughly 10 hours.

The iX1 drives well by compact SUV standards, with responsive steering, composed handling, and a comfortable ride. The interior benefits from BMW's latest iDrive 9 system with a curved dual-screen display. Boot space is generous at 490 litres, making it genuinely practical for families. It's not the cheapest option in its class, but the refinement and build quality justify the premium for many buyers.

What the press thinks

Reviewers highlight the iX1's polished driving experience, comfortable ride, and well-designed interior. Criticisms tend to focus on the price premium over non-premium rivals and the 130 kW DC charging speed, which lags behind 800V competitors.
