i4 estimated average
These curves are aggregated, owner-reported degradation data — not official manufacturer figures. Your own result above is the number that matters.
Wh/mi or Wh/km
Swipe left on the curved display to the "Efficiency" widget — tap it for a bar chart showing kWh/100 km split by Climate, Drivetrain and Auxiliaries. Or go to "My Car" → "Trip Info" for average consumption per trip. On the i3, use the iDrive controller: "Vehicle Info" → "Trip Computer" → "Consumption".
Estimated Range
Always shown in the instrument cluster next to the battery gauge. On iDrive 8+ models you can also tap the battery icon on the home screen for a range map adjusted to terrain and driving style.
Battery Percentage
Visible in the instrument cluster beside the battery gauge. Tap the battery icon on the home screen for exact percentage and charging status. If you see range instead of %, go to "My Car" → "Settings" → "Units" and switch to percentage.

About the BMW i4
The BMW i4 is the electric 4 Series — and it's arguably more compelling than the petrol version. Based on the CLAR platform (shared with the combustion 3/4 Series), it's a proper driver's car with sharp handling and a well-sorted chassis.
The eDrive40 with its 83.9 kWh battery offers up to 365 miles WLTP range — one of the longest in any EV saloon. Real-world range of 280–310 miles is genuinely impressive. The M50 performance variant adds all-wheel drive and 544 bhp.
Inside, it's a proper BMW with physical controls alongside the iDrive 8 curved display. Build quality is excellent. It's not cheap, but it feels like a premium product in a way few EVs manage.
What the press thinks
Reviewers love the i4's driving dynamics, calling it the best-handling electric saloon on sale. The impressive range and premium interior are consistently praised. Criticisms include the high price, heavy weight, and the contentious front grille design.
