About the Citroën ë-C4 X

The Citroën ë-C4 X is the extended-boot variant of the ë-C4, adding a proper saloon-style rear end to the same distinctive crossover design. Mechanically identical to the standard ë-C4, it uses a 50 kWh NMC battery and 100 kW electric motor, but the extra length translates into a significantly larger boot — 510 litres versus the hatchback's 380.

The additional length also brings a slight aerodynamic advantage, nudging the WLTP range up to 233 miles versus the ë-C4's 228. In real-world driving, expect 175–200 miles depending on conditions. The same comfort-focused character defines the driving experience — superb seats, a plush ride, and a cabin that feels calmer than most competitors.

The ë-C4 X occupies an unusual niche as a crossover-saloon, which gives it genuine boot space without the upright proportions of an SUV. It appeals to buyers who want the ë-C4's comfort and character but need more luggage capacity for family life or regular trips.

What the press thinks

Reviews echo the ë-C4's strengths — comfort, character, and excellent seats — with added praise for the more practical boot. The niche body style will not suit everyone, and the same criticisms about charging speed and ageing infotainment apply.
