About the Ford e-Tourneo Custom
The Ford e-Tourneo Custom is an all-electric people carrier based on Ford Pro's next-generation Transit Custom platform. Offering seating for up to nine, it fills a niche that very few electric vehicles even attempt — the large passenger van segment.
Powered by a 71 kWh battery driving a single rear motor producing 217 bhp and 415 Nm of torque, the e-Tourneo Custom delivers a WLTP range of up to 212 miles. DC charging at up to 125 kW enables a 10-to-80% top-up in around 29 minutes, which is respectable for a vehicle of this size. An overnight charge on a 7 kW home wallbox takes roughly 10 hours.
The interior is a significant step up from previous Tourneo models, with a 13-inch touchscreen running Ford's SYNC 4 infotainment system, configurable seating layouts, and a surprisingly refined ride for a van-based vehicle. The electric drivetrain eliminates the noise and vibration that made diesel Tourneos tiring on long journeys.
For large families, airport shuttle operators, or anyone needing to move lots of people electrically, the e-Tourneo Custom is essentially the only option in its class. The trade-off is the considerable kerb weight of nearly 2,800 kg, which limits real-world range and makes it thirsty at motorway speeds.
