About the Volkswagen ID. Buzz

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz brings the iconic VW Microbus into the electric age — and it's every bit as charming as the concept car promised. Available in short-wheelbase (five-seat) and long-wheelbase (six or seven-seat) versions, it's one of the most distinctive EVs on the road.

The SWB uses a 79 kWh battery for up to 258 miles WLTP, while the LWB gets an 86 kWh pack for 361 miles. DC charging at up to 200 kW is competitive — a significant upgrade over the earlier 170 kW limit. The GTX variant adds all-wheel drive and 335 bhp.

Inside, the flat floor and boxy shape create enormous passenger space. The dashboard is minimal with a small driver display and a 12.9-inch central touchscreen. The ride is comfortable but not sporty — this is a family cruiser, not a hot hatch. For families who want something genuinely different from the sea of electric SUVs, the ID. Buzz has personality in abundance.

What the press thinks

An irresistibly charming electric people carrier. Reviewers adore the retro design, cavernous interior, and cheerful character. The high price, VW Group infotainment frustrations, and modest range on the SWB model are the common complaints.
