The Ford Puma Gen-E brings electric power to one of Europe's most popular small SUVs. Rather than building on a dedicated EV platform, Ford has electrified the existing Puma body — a strategy that keeps costs down and maintains the practical MegaBox underfloor storage compartment that made the petrol Puma so popular.
Powered by a 43.6 kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery, the Puma Gen-E offers 233 miles of WLTP range. The LFP chemistry means the battery can be regularly charged to 100% without accelerating degradation, and long-term durability should be excellent. DC charging at up to 100 kW completes a 10–80% top-up in around 23 minutes, helped by the smaller battery capacity.
The 168 bhp motor provides brisk performance for a small SUV, and the Puma's well-judged chassis translates well to electric power. The driving experience is agile and engaging by small EV standards.
