About the Lotus Eletre
The Lotus Eletre is a radical departure for a brand synonymous with lightweight sports cars, but it represents Lotus's vision of high-performance electric mobility in SUV form. With a 112 kWh NMC battery and up to 350 kW DC charging via an 800V architecture, it offers some of the fastest charging available in any production EV.
The base model produces 603 bhp from dual motors, while the range-topping Eletre R pushes past 900 bhp with a 0–62 mph time under 3 seconds. Active aerodynamics, air suspension, and rear-wheel steering give it dynamic capability that belies its considerable 2,640 kg kerb weight.
Built at the Geely-owned facility in Wuhan, China, the Eletre competes with the Porsche Cayenne EV, BMW iX M60, and Audi Q8 e-tron. It offers a genuinely engaging driving experience in a segment where many rivals feel disconnected. The LIDAR-equipped driver assistance system is among the most advanced available.
What the press thinks
Reviewers praise the Eletre's driving dynamics, which feel surprisingly agile for such a large and heavy vehicle. The 350 kW charging is a genuine differentiator. Criticisms focus on the sheer size and weight, occasionally inconsistent interior material quality, and infotainment niggles.
