How to find these values on your BMW

Wh/mi or Wh/km

Swipe left on the curved display to the "Efficiency" widget — tap it for a bar chart showing kWh/100 km split by Climate, Drivetrain and Auxiliaries. Or go to "My Car" → "Trip Info" for average consumption per trip. On the i3, use the iDrive controller: "Vehicle Info" → "Trip Computer" → "Consumption".

Estimated Range

Always shown in the instrument cluster next to the battery gauge. On iDrive 8+ models you can also tap the battery icon on the home screen for a range map adjusted to terrain and driving style.

Battery Percentage

Visible in the instrument cluster beside the battery gauge. Tap the battery icon on the home screen for exact percentage and charging status. If you see range instead of %, go to "My Car" → "Settings" → "Units" and switch to percentage.

About the BMW iX3

The first-generation BMW iX3 was a mid-size electric SUV based on the G01 X3 platform, produced between 2021 and 2023. It used a 74 kWh NMC battery from CATL and a single rear-mounted motor producing 286 bhp. While it shared the X3's body, the iX3 featured specific aerodynamic optimisations and unique blue accent styling.

The iX3 offered a WLTP range of around 285 miles and DC charging at up to 150 kW, with a 10–80% fill in roughly 32 minutes. As a rear-wheel-drive-only model, it differed from the xDrive AWD setup most X3 buyers expected.

The second-generation iX3 arriving in 2025 is a completely different proposition — built on a new Neue Klasse platform with an expected 108.7 kWh battery, 800V architecture, and dramatically improved range and charging. For used buyers, the first-gen iX3 offers decent value, though the charging speed and rear-drive-only layout are compromises against newer rivals.

What the press thinks

The first-gen iX3 received mixed reviews. Praise focused on its comfortable ride, refined motor, and decent range for its time. Criticisms centred on the lack of AWD, uninspiring interior differentiation from the ICE X3, and charging speed falling behind newer competitors. The new-generation model is expected to address all major shortcomings.
