About the BYD ATTO 2

The BYD ATTO 2 is BYD's compact electric crossover, positioned below the ATTO 3 as a more affordable entry point into the brand's European lineup. Available with 45 kWh or 58 kWh LFP Blade battery options, it targets the high-volume small SUV segment dominated by the MG4 and Peugeot e-2008.

BYD's Blade Battery technology uses a cell-to-pack LFP design that prioritises safety and longevity — LFP chemistry handles daily 100% charging without penalty and typically shows less degradation over time than NMC alternatives. DC fast charging tops out at around 80 kW, which is modest, but adequate for the battery sizes offered.

The ATTO 2 is well-equipped for its price point, featuring a rotating 12.8-inch touchscreen, Vehicle-to-Load capability, and a suite of driver assistance features. Build quality is competitive with European rivals, and the LFP battery's durability makes it a sensible choice for buyers prioritising long-term ownership costs.

What the press thinks

Early reviews position the ATTO 2 as a strong value proposition — well-equipped, solidly built, and competitively priced. The LFP battery's longevity is a plus. Criticisms focus on the modest DC charging speed and the brand's still-developing European service and charging infrastructure partnerships.
