About the GWM ORA 03
The GWM ORA 03 is a Chinese-designed small electric hatchback that aims to undercut established rivals like the MG4 and Volkswagen ID.3 on price. Originally sold as the ORA Good Cat in China, it was rebranded for international markets and arrives with a distinctive retro-inspired design that divides opinion.
Available with either a 45.4 kWh or 59.3 kWh battery (usable), the ORA 03 offers up to 261 miles of WLTP range in the larger-battery Pro and GT trims. The single front motor produces 171 bhp, which is adequate for urban and suburban driving. A sportier GT trim adds visual enhancements and slightly firmer suspension.
The biggest limitation is DC charging speed. At just 67 kW maximum, it lags well behind competitors — a 10-to-80% fast charge takes nearly 50 minutes, which makes motorway road trips tedious. AC charging at 11 kW is more reasonable, with an overnight charge on a 7 kW wallbox taking around 9 hours for the larger battery.
The interior is reasonably well equipped for the price, with a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and decent build quality. The ride is comfortable in town but can feel floaty at higher speeds. For budget-conscious buyers doing mainly urban driving, the ORA 03 offers decent value, but the slow DC charging rules it out as a serious long-distance proposition.
