About the MG Cyberster
The MG Cyberster is a two-seat electric roadster that channels MG's sports car heritage into the EV era. With scissor doors, a dramatic wedge-shaped design, and up to 503 bhp in the dual-motor GT variant, it is a far cry from the budget-focused MG EVs that preceded it.
Two versions are available: a single-motor rear-wheel-drive model with 340 bhp and 316 miles of WLTP range, and the dual-motor all-wheel-drive GT with 503 bhp, a 3.2-second 0–62 mph time, and 260 miles of range. The 74.4 kWh NMC battery sits low in the chassis for a low centre of gravity.
The Cyberster is one of very few fully electric convertibles on the market, competing primarily with the Fiat 500e cabrio at the affordable end but targeting a much sportier experience. DC charging peaks at 144 kW — adequate but not class-leading. The fabric roof stows electrically in around 15 seconds. It is a bold statement of intent from MG that the brand can deliver more than just value.
What the press thinks
Reviewers are charmed by the Cyberster's ambition and drama. The performance, particularly in GT form, draws praise, as does the rarity of an electric roadster. Criticisms include the nearly two-tonne weight dulling cornering agility, modest charging speed, and an interior that does not quite match European rivals for material quality.
