About the MG MG4
The MG4 EV shook up the affordable EV market with its aggressive pricing. It's one of the best-value electric cars on sale, offering genuine competition to the VW ID.3 and Peugeot e-208 at a significantly lower price.
The Standard Range (51 kWh, LFP) gives 218 miles WLTP, while the Long Range (64 kWh, NMC) pushes to 281 miles. The XPOWER hot hatch version with 435 bhp dual motors is an unexpected bonus. The MG4 drives well for its price — the low-mounted battery gives it a surprisingly fun, well-balanced character.
Build quality is decent if not outstanding, and the infotainment system is basic but functional. For buyers who want an EV without the premium price tag, the MG4 is hard to beat.
What the press thinks
The MG4 is universally praised for its value proposition. Reviewers are impressed by how good it drives for the price, with a balanced chassis that betters more expensive rivals. Main criticisms are the basic interior materials and less refined infotainment compared to VW and Hyundai.
