About the Škoda Elroq
The Skoda Elroq is a compact electric SUV built on the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform, positioned as a spiritual successor to the popular Karoq. It slots below the larger Enyaq in Skoda's electric lineup and targets the increasingly competitive compact SUV market dominated by the VW ID.4 and Hyundai Kona Electric.
Three battery sizes are available: a 52 kWh entry-level pack, a 59 kWh mid-range option, and a 77 kWh flagship offering up to 355 miles of WLTP range. The top-spec Elroq 85 produces 282 bhp from its rear motor, while the RS variant pushes output to 335 bhp with dual motors. DC charging peaks at 175 kW on the larger battery variants.
True to Skoda's ethos, the Elroq prioritises practicality and value. The boot is generous for the class, interior quality is solid, and the Simply Clever features Skoda is known for are present throughout. It undercuts the equivalent VW ID.4 while offering similar or better range and space.
What the press thinks
Early reviews praise the Elroq's excellent value proposition, spacious interior, and solid build quality. Reviewers consistently note it offers MEB platform strengths at a lower price than the VW equivalent. The driving experience is competent rather than exciting, and some wish for faster charging on the smaller battery variants.
