How to find these values on your Volkswagen

Wh/mi or Wh/km

On the infotainment screen, swipe to the "Driving Data" view or go to "Vehicle" → "e-Manager" → "Driving Data". Average consumption in kWh/100 km or Wh/mi is listed in the trip computer. On ID. models, it's also on the "Driving Data" card on the home screen.

Estimated Range

Estimated range is displayed on the instrument cluster (or ID. Cockpit) behind the steering wheel and in the "e-Manager" → "Range" section of the infotainment.

Battery Percentage

Battery percentage is shown on the instrument cluster next to the range figure and in the top status bar of the infotainment. On ID. models, it also appears on the ID. Light status bar.

About the Volkswagen ID.5

The Volkswagen ID.5 is essentially an ID.4 with a sleeker, coupe-style roofline. Built on the same MEB platform, it shares batteries, motors, and most interior components with its boxier sibling but benefits from slightly better aerodynamics thanks to the tapered rear end.

Two battery sizes are offered: a 52 kWh entry-level pack and the more popular 77 kWh version, with DC charging at up to 135 kW or 175 kW respectively. The ID.5 GTX variant adds dual motors and all-wheel drive with 299 bhp. Software updates have steadily improved the infotainment and driving experience since launch, addressing early criticisms of the touch-sensitive controls.

The coupe styling does cost a small amount of headroom in the rear and slightly reduces boot space compared to the ID.4, but in return you get a more distinctive look and marginally better efficiency. For buyers who want the ID.4's practicality with a sportier silhouette, the ID.5 fills that niche neatly without a significant compromise. It competes with the Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron, which shares the same platform but at a higher price.

What the press thinks

A stylish alternative to the ID.4 that trades marginal practicality for better looks and slightly improved efficiency. Reviewers note it drives identically to the ID.4, which is both a strength and a weakness depending on expectations.
