About the Volkswagen ID.7
The Volkswagen ID.7 is VW's largest and most refined electric car, a saloon and Tourer (estate) that targets the BMW i5 and Tesla Model S in terms of range while undercutting them significantly on price. With up to 382 miles of WLTP range from its 86 kWh battery, it is one of the longest-range mainstream EVs available.
Built on an evolved version of the MEB platform, the ID.7 benefits from lessons learned with the ID.3 and ID.4. The interior is a significant step up, with higher-quality materials, a 15-inch infotainment screen, and importantly, the return of some physical controls that were missed on earlier ID models. The ride is supremely comfortable thanks to progressive damping and excellent sound insulation.
DC charging at up to 200 kW is a notable improvement over earlier MEB cars, enabling a 10-80% charge in around 25 minutes. The Tourer variant adds estate-car practicality with a generous 605-litre boot. For long-distance drivers who want an affordable, comfortable electric saloon with genuine all-day range, the ID.7 is one of the best options on the market. It proves that VW can deliver a genuinely premium electric experience when it targets the right segment.
